This is a Lotus Design Tashi Tha-Ring Shambu Banner, with an elaborate applique designed brocade. It's hung around the perimeter of a shrine room along the ceiling. This style is often displayed outside monasteries during ceremonies, suspended between poles above the building. This special Shambu banner represents blessings descending on the shrine room. This style is also used on special occasions to represent the auspicious blessings of the jewels of the dharma being sent forth as multi-colored rainbow light.
